Twin Lakes, The Double Beauty

This twin lakes is also known as Lake Diatas(Above) and Lake Dibawah(Under). The interesting fact is that the lake Diatas(Above) is located under the road to the right, while the lake Dibawah(Under) is located above the road to the left.

Lake Diatas, located in the district Valley Gumanti on the highlands of Alahan Panjang. It’s about 25 km east of the capital city of Solok Kayu Aro Regency towards Muara Labuh(Pagu River). This lake with an area of 17.19 ha is surrounded by agricultural horticulture like vegetables, and fruits like passion fruit and persimmons.

It took 1 hours to reach this this tourist destination from Kayu Aro or about 1.5 hours from Padang. When using public transportation, this lake can be reached within two hours’ drive from the terminal Bareh Solok, Solok. The highway to the lake is smooth and tourists can enjoy the rural scenery and the beautiful tea plantations along the way. For lodging, there are Guest Houses, villas, or other accommodation at an affordable price.

Lake Dibawah has an area of approximately 16.83 ha and its position is 1 km south of Lake Diatas. That is why the lakes are known as Twin Lakes. Both lakes can be seen simultaneously from the top of the hill between them. There are tourist facilities in the top of this hill built by the Government of Solok Art Festival to give you comfort in enjoying the beauty of the Twin Lakes. Residents around the lake are mostly farmers. Generally they grow horticultural crops as the main livelihood.

Twin Lakes is an impressive recreational place with beautiful scenery and beautiful rural atmosphere. Plateau and the surrounding hills are ideal for hiking fans, camping and also as a family recreation. Largest city in the Twin Lakes area is Alahan Panjang which is about 65 km from the city of Padang. Here is a fairly common facilities with affordable price.
