Do you want a hotel that suited all your needs, or just a place to sleep?
Here are some tips to help you choosing a hotel

  • If you use a travel agent service, contact your travel agent. Travel agents must have a lower price or promotion to a hotel. Ask for explanations about the condition of hotels and suggestions of other better hotels
  • Travel agents should have complete data about hotels and other accommodations and most importantly the status of rooms. You don’t want to come and rejected because their room are all full booked, do you?
  • Do your homework. Buy a guidebook about the city of destination, especially if you’re not too familiar with the territory. Read the section about inn and the area surrounding the inn that has many accommodation options.
  • Plan the date of arrival and departure. If possible, choose ‘non-holiday’ time because on high season, the inns often raise their prices, and even add a special surcharge for high season.
  • Choose a lodging area that suits the activity you want to do, whether you’re traveling for business, fun or just to explore the art and culture.
  • Find and choose two or three hotels that suit your budget. Call each hotel, and inform them your arrival and departure date, also the requirements of the room you want. Check room rates and packages for families, such as price or special programs for children, as well as other deals.
  • Ask what services you get wit that room price. Is breakfast included? Afternoon tea? Shuttle from the airport?

  • Also ask about extra equipents that may be important to you, such as: refrigerator, hair dryer, iron, gym, restaurant in the hotel, pool, video or DVD player, movie rentals, wheelchair access and petfriendly accommodation.

  • Provide the hotel operator with information about discount hotel or bonus that may be obtained from the room price. This could include membership of a particular club, or customers of the bank, members of airline frequent flyer and so forth. Make sure the bonuses are already included in the final count of the room price.
  • Make a list of comparisons between price and service from the hotel choices you’ve prepared. And remember to request Non smoking rooms or not. Record the reservation code then give it to the front office staff upon check-in.
  • Find out about the cancellation policy of the hotel. Each hotel has different rules. And if you cancel without notifying the hotel in a given time, you will be charged for one more night.
