Nusantara Buffalo Sate
One of the unique culinary of Kudus, other than Soto Kudus, and Lentog, is the Buffalo Satay. I don’t really know whether there are other places that use buffalo meat for sate.

Nusantara Buffalo Sate is one of the very well known satay seller in Kudus, Central Java, the seller is the second generation of the legendary buffalo satay seller at Kudus, Pak Jastro. They changed the name because the name ‘Sate Jastro’ is still used by the second wife Pak Jastro.
Actually, this buffalo satay is not like other satay which typically use barbecued raw meat. The meat is seasoned and cooked first, and got barbecued on the stick afterward.
The way to order and the presentation is also different from other satay, on other satay we usually order the number of stick and the seller will make satay according to the number we ordered, but here the satay is directly presented in a pile upon a dish lined with teak leaves. We just need to take what we want(the meat,liver, etc)

In addition we are also free to take the seasoning that have been provided in a large bowl where we usually just plunge the satay in.
