Walk Along The Exotic City

A visit to Kotabaru always leave a lasting impressive. Lots of interesting objects for the eyes and camera. This city is located in a small island among the other islands in the south of Kalimantan(Borneo), Indonesia.

Kotabaru is a district whose capital is also named Kotabaru. Many interesting places worth visiting like Tamiyang Bay Underwater Park, the beaches in the Lontar village, Kerayaan Island, Gendambaan Beach, Mount Bamega, Ketapang Cape Coast, fishing village Tiung Nest, Kotabaru itself and many more.


From the Batulicin port, you have to cross to Tanjung Serdang port using ferry for about 20 minutes. In this short journey you will find several islands and small mountains on the surface.

Having arrived at Cape Serdang, you have to walk down a winding road. There are lots of uniqueness all around the city. Like the pagoda on the top of the hill, Islamic Center unique building with the dome, tent cafes along the the coast, the regent office with sea view, etc..

Kotabaru is heaven for pedestrian. Among many cities in South Kalimantan, it seems that this city is the one with most friendly pavements for pedestrians. Most area for pedestrian is decorated with beautiful color from a composition of sea stones.


Many people said, that visiting Kotabaru is incomplete without going to Siring Laut. This place is a public place or plaza. But once again, this place is facing the vast ocean. This place is very crowded in the afternoon and evening.

Siring Kotabaru

Kotabaru harbor is not far from Siring Kotabaru. There is a lot of speedboat which can be used to go Batulicin or for those who want to go diving in Tamiyang Bay Underwater Park in Laut(Sea ) Island.

There are also floating restaurants. The view from here is so pretty. You can see the buildings combined with a stretch of Mount Bamega in background.

Route to Kotabaru

You can ride public transportation such as busses or small non-AC buses. Depart at around 7 AM & 9 am from terminal Pal 6 Banjarmasin. the journey takes about 9 hours. There are also many transportation alternatives.
