In Gura Ici, No Fisherman Returned Empty Handed

Gura Ici is also known as the paradise for fishing. In fact, even for those who don’t like fishing or don’t know how to, the archipelago’s water offers an unforgettable fishing experience.

In Gura Ici, also Makayoa Islands in general, fishermen are guaranteed not to come home empty-handed. Although fishing from shoreline, visitors are guaranteed to catch fish easily. With such a offer, they who even don’t or never do fishing almost certainly be tempted.

For those who like fishing however, fishing from shoreline is not enough. To satisfy the hobby, the tour organizer provides two speedboats and wooden motor vessel with a capacity of five people. Speedboats and ships are always available on the beach not far from the cottage.

Fish that is the most frequently catched is kuwe or bubara. But there are also yellow fin tuna, blue parrotfish, grouper daras (locals call it goropa fish). Nicknamed angling paradise, catching a human-sized fish is not a rare opportunity there.

To eat the fishes, we have two options. We can ask the help of chef at the cafe or burn the fish with friends on Gura Ici’s coast. Accompanied by moonlight, grilled fish in the event there is a memorable experience.

Make a fire to burn the fish is also not difficult. Firewood can be found easily on the islands during the fishing. Or, we can borrow equipment from the island manager.

By considering the visiting duration, fishermen can also enjoy the sunrise or sunset on the preferred island. Accompanied by the chirping of thousands of pigeons and parrots from the Burung island, the sunset on Makayoa Islands offer experiences that are difficult to find elsewhere.

Like the fish but not the fishing? No need to worry. There’s a cafe not far from the cottage in Gura Ici. Visitors can enjoy the grilled fish at the cafe. The location of the cafe in right in shoreline of the beach offers a dinner in a romantic atmosphere.
