It’s not difficult to reach the locations of lake Limboto. It’s positioned not far from the center of Gorontalo, only about 16 km. Various types of transportation are available to take tourists to the lake.
If you want to enjoy the city atmosphere and natural view along the way to the lake, the fittest transportation would be bentor. Gorontalo’s typical vehicle that is a combination of rickshaws and motorcycles. The front is often just like typical rickshaw found in many cities across the archipelago, the back is a motorcycle, not on the side as is often seen in bentor in several cities in Sumatera.

It took about 45 minutes from the Jalaluddin airport Gorontalo or only about 20 minutes from the center of Gorontalo to get to the lake. From the airport, bentor rates ranging up to IDR 25.000 to 30.000 (US $ 2.5-3.00). If from Gorontalo, the charge ranges from IDR 10.000 to 15.000.
During the trip with bentor, passengers can enjoy the music presentation which audio device installed behind the front seat facing backwards. Bentor can also be useful if you want to get new friends, because, although there is already a passengers, the driver will still be looking for other passengers. Of course with the same direction and the approval of the first passenger.
The second passenger could be seated in the front seat with the first passenger. However, he/she can also choose to sit in the driver’s back seat.

One thing to be concerned about the condition of the lake is silting up. Based on the observation of Gorontalo district office in 2003, the depth of the lake is only 3 m. Even based on recent surveys, the depth of the lake is only about 1-1.5 meters. This has made the lake a material conversation in the Indonesia national conference which took place in Indonesia Bali, 13-15 August 2009. If this condition continue, soon the lake will turn into a swamp.
