You have your own tips? Put them in comment. These what I have so far:
- Confirm whether you really want to do the trip alone.
- Also make sure that your destination is a relatively safe and not in any conflict .
- Search for information as much as possible about your destination, at least to make it easier for you to enjoy your tour.
- Do the travel at night to save on accommodation, and in the morning you can travel as much as you like all day.
- Bring supplies of food that can delay hunger such as bread or chocolate, this is to avoid hunger when in the trip bus / train where no food vendors available or when you are in an emergency.
- Bring enough money (don’t exaggerate!) in the form of cash as a precaution if you don’t find ATM on your journey.
- Put your money in a safe place and (if possible) on the separate places to avoid the unexpected such as theft.
- Do not forget to bring your camera.
- Take medication as a precaution. your must-have include: anti-cold medicine, flu medicine, headache medicine, eucalyptus oil, drug allergies (if any) and hangover.
- Bring enough clothes and do not forget to bring a jacket and a small towel and special clothing if you go to a place with extreme weather.
- Bring a large plastic bag for your dirty clothes in order not to mix with the clean clothes.
- Don’t forget to bring communications tools as well as the charger so that you can still contact your family or colleagues.
- Make sure that the bag you’ll use is in good condition.
- Bring yarn and needles in case you have your clothes or bag torn during your journey.
- Bring the map of the location.
- Don’t forget to bring toiletries, in small size.
- Avoid buying the goods or snacks during the journey, it would be better to prepare those thing from home before leaving to save on expenditure.
- Important! Ask the price first BEFORE eating. The seller can charge you an impossible price if you don’t ask first.
- Ask about ticketing information only on officials at the terminal or station personnel.
- Use comfortable footwear for use in a long time.
- Drink vitamin C to maintain the condition of your body to stay fit during the trip.
- Enjoy your solo backpacking trip.
