Ngurbloat Beach, South East Maluku

Ngurbloat beach or better known as Pasir Panjang (Long Sand) Beach is a stunning beach, located in the village Ngilngof on the western part of Kei Island, South East Maluku, Indonesia. It is about 20 kilometers from Tual, the capital of Southeast Maluku Regency. The Area can be reached using a rental car or public transport based in Ohoijang Market, Langgur. The journey from Tual to Ngurbloat beach takes about an hour. There are a number of small settlements scattered between the desert scrub along the way.

Ngurbloat with its white sand extends about 5 km long, thousands of coconut trees lay on the beach lane, crystal clear blue sea and the calm waves will make you wanna stay longer in this place. This area is still very natural and can be easily reached by the local residents in the Kei Island. The most famous about Ngurbloat is its sand. The color of the sand is bright white and very soft. Even in an overcast, the sand still look shiny and dazzling enough. On a sweltering condition, these sands did not become hot like sand beach in general. The local residents believe that the softness of the sand could only be matched by the softness of flour. Condition that distinguishes Ngurbloat with other beaches.

If you bring young children, don’t forget to bring the equipment to play with the sand. The touch of the grains of sand feel very comfortable to the skin because of its softness. People also allowed to swim in this beach. The location is safe and spacious enough since it’s sloping. The existence of small islands on the opposite the beach made the waves small and the current not too strong.

A number of rooms at several nearby lodging is provided for tourists who want to spend the night on the beach. Inns are generally in the form of tropical-style houses on stilts made of wood.

The land of Kei Kecil Island in the form of rocks causing only certain types of plants can grow there. Big trees are rarely found.

To go to the Southeast Maluku itself, tourists can use the aircraft or ship from Ambon, the capital city of Maluku. Traveling from Pattimura Airport, Ambon, to Dumatubun Airport in Langgur takes approximately 1.5 hours using a small aircraft. There are flights from Ambon to Langgur almost every day with different airlines.

For those who like to use sea transport, the journey can be made from Port Yos Sudarso, Ambon, to the Tual Port. This journey takes approximately 18 hours with a passenger ship owned by PT Pelni. That include two hours stop in the Port of Banda Naira. However, sea travel is usually only once a week. but If I were you, I’d prefer the sea transport.
