Dieng Plateau, A Zamana

Dieng is a plateau located on Wonosobo and Banjarnegara. It’s famous not only because the natural charm on 2000 meters above sea leve, but also because historic temples and places that for some people are considered sacred.

The weather at 02.30 o’clock in the morning it was still too cold. But we must recklessly go through the cold by motorcycle in order to pursue the sunrise in Dieng. Sunrise is one of tourist attraction in Dieng which is quite unique and can’t be found elsewhere. It’s like there are silver and gold rings around the sun when it rises from the sleep.

From Wonosobo, it took about 1 and a half hours to travel to the Dieng Plateau which is about 30 miles far. Winding
route up and down is quite a challenge. Not to mention the thick fog along the way.

We arrived at Dieng around 04.00, it turns out, many other tourists who had come first. About half hour later, the sun slowly rose from behind the mountain Sindoro. Little by little, golden rays threads began to appear.

On the next half hour, the sun enlarged with its golden ray diffraction hung by a white mist. That diffraction of light formed a ring of gold and silver to end the sunrise attractions in Dieng.

The journey continues into the plateau displaying piles of temple-shaped stones. Sunlight had not touched that plateau since it’s blocked by mountain Pakuwaja on the eastern of Dieng plateau. While waiting for the sun to illuminate the temple Arjuna, we enjoyed the warm coffee in a little shop. We hadn’t finished our drink when the sun bursts suddenly emanate from behind the mountain Pakuwaja and make the sky blue.

The coffee that accompanied us at the moment of waiting was not ordinary coffee. Locals call it coffee Purwaceng with special ingredients that are not only able to keep the body warm but also strengthen the body’s stamina. The ingredients come from special leaves that can only grow in the Dieng plateau.
